WARD AND PERI-OPERATIVE MANAGEMENT IN OMF SURGERY

The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Intern Orientation Programme was successfully conducted over two days at the Simulation Centre, Neuro Trauma Unit, National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL). Day 1 comprised interactive lectures covering essential topics including facial imaging, trauma and airway management, OMF emergencies, infection control, fluid management, and post-operative care. Day 2 featured a hands-on simulation-based practical workshop for 35 dental interns, focusing on:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Airway Management
  • Nasogastric Tube (NGT) Placement
  • IMF & Wiring Techniques
The programme aimed to strengthen clinical readiness, patient safety, and confidence among interns entering Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice. We thank all resource persons for their valuable contributions and commend the interns for their enthusiastic participation.
